The 29th Annual Pottstown Rumble is June 25 - 27, 2021

The Pottstown Rumble is a 3 day fun-filled event with over 4,000 players and nearly 2,000 teams competing in what many consider the toughest test on grass. Friday now features Women's Pro doubles and our Pottstown Rumble Juniors, Men's and Women's Masters Grass Doubles and Mens and Womens Triples (added in 2019)! Saturday morning over 2,000 men and women doubles players eagerly wait to start their day. Saturday evening center court will host Women's Pro Finals battling for the $10,000 first place prize. While the Men's Pro division wraps up Sunday evening competing for the $10,000 first place prize. Sunday also features COED doubles and gender blind quads.

Along with amazing competition, the Rumble offers plenty of other activities. There will be an elite beer garden hosted by "Ideal Brew" who sources some of the finest regional beers and ciders for your pleasure. Our vendor row will include gourmet food, clothing vendors, an on-site massage therapist, chiropractor, and athletic trainers as well as high-energy music throughout the weekend!! All visitors welcome!!

All registrations are first come first serve! You will be notified prior to registering if you are NOT at the main field. Walk-on's will most certainly be playing on one of our satellite fields.

Spectators $10/head. Children under 12 free. Players can spectate all weekend for free after playing.

What Level Should I Play?

If you never played before, here is guidance to help figure out the division you should be playing:

  1. If you play in other tournaments, play the level your NORMALLY play.
Do NOT play down (that is sandbagging)
  2. If you have won 1st or 2nd place in a level (not just at the Rumble) - play the level ABOVE that.
  3. You should play to the level of the BEST player on your team. Consider the following for that person:
Setting:
  • I can only bump set the ball. (B level)
  • I have decent hands when it comes to setting (BB)
  • I can jump set the ball and/or run plays (A/AA)
Serving:
  • I underhand serve or can do a basic overhand serve. (B level)
  • I overhand serve and can play the ball pretty much where I aim. (BB)
  • I can do special serves (like jump serves) (A/AA)
Blocking:
  • What? In doubles? (B level)
  • I'm working on it, but not great yet. (BB)
  • I can block, and call what I'm blocking so my partner can cover the rest. (A)
  • I can switch up my calls on blocking at the last minute, or recover from a block by passing if it lands near me. (AA+)
Hitting:
  • I can hit the ball but my aim isn't that great. (B level)
  • I can hit a hard driven ball on a good set. (BB)
  • I can hit the ball down, cross court and line. (A)
  • I can hit within the 10 foot line (AA)

IF YOU ARE STILL UNSURE WHAT LEVEL TO PLAY, ASK US! SANDBAGGING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Sandbagging

Sandbagging - hiding the strength, skill or difficulty of something or someone early in an engagement.

We have determined it is necessary to state the following rules:

  • Have you won or came in second in any division (not only at the Rumble)?
    • If yes, you must move up a division (unless you played the highest level).
  • Can you hand set?
  • Can you jump serve?
    • If yes, you must play at a higher level.

Quads

  • If you are playing with a setter, outside, opp and libero:
    • you must play at a higher level
  • If you have players that play on an organized, competitive team (high school, college, clubs or leagues):
    • you must play at a higher level

If it is determined that you are sandbagging you will not be able to advance to play offs. Determination will be at the discretion of the Rumble staff.
